Have you and your family ever been to Brookgreen Gardens before during the fall? If you haven’t, then you are going to be in for a treat on your next vacation. Happening on Saturday, October 3rd to Sunday, October 4th, 2020, Brookgreen Gardens will be holding their Annual Harvest Home Weekend. This is a fun-filled weekend that your family can do, such as their pumpkin patch and building a scarecrow together. There will be other fun activities that you can do while you are attending their Annual Harvest Home Weekend. Don’t miss this fun and exciting weekend with the family!

BooFest! at Barefoot Landing

BooFest! at Barefoot Landing has been one of our guests’ favorite events to attend every year. Many look forward to their vacations during October just to participate in this fun event. Join in the fun on Saturday, October 24th, from noon until 4:00 pm. BooFest! is free to attend and will have lots of fun activities for everyone in the family to enjoy. From live entertainment, balloon artists, and even a costume contest, you will enjoy the day together. Be sure to stay after the event or come back to show “Hocus Pocus” at 7:00 pm. Think of the new memories you will be able to make by enjoying BooFest! with the family.

Trick or Treat Time


If you and your family will be staying with us during Halloween this year, then you don’t want to miss out on a few fun places to go. The first one that you will want to head on over to is Trick or Treat at Barefoot Landing, beginning at 5:00 through 7:00 pm. Many of the shops will be participating in handing out Halloween goodies to everyone. Be on the lookout for more fun Trick or Treating events happening around the Grand Strand this year!

32nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival & Parade

Spend St. Patrick’s Day in Myrtle Beach this Year

Who doesn’t love a good parade and festival when you come on vacation? This year join in the 32nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade on March 14th on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach. This event happens whether it is raining, or the sun is shining and can bring up to 40,000 people to join in the festivities. This year the parade will be 9:00 am and it’s going to be a great one to watch. After the parade come join in some live entertainment, kids’ activities and different rides to enjoy. There will also be around 150 vendors that will be displaying their products, treats, and crafts. What a great festival to attend with the family and make new memories together!

10th Annual Myrtle Beach Irish Fest

Have you and your family ever seen on tv the Irish dancers? What a great way then to come out to Market Commons and help celebrate the 10th Annual Myrtle Beach Irish Fest. On March 14th your family can experience some amazing live music, fun entertainment and even get to try out different Irish food & drinks. Let the kids play in the kids’ zone and get to experience some fun entertainment for them. The adults of course can enjoy some different drinks that you may only get to try during St. Patty’s Day at the festival. Enjoy together as a family as you wear all the green you can and enjoy some great family fun together.

Shamrock 5K Fun Run

Another fun activity that your family can join in this St. Patrick’s Day is the Shamrock 5K fun run at Market Common. Beginning at 8:00 am is when your family can join in this fun and exciting fun run. This happens to be the 3rd Annual Shamrock 5K and is one that everyone needs to join in. Dress festive in Green and white and enjoy the great outdoors for the morning. Not only will there be the 5K run but there will also be a 1 Mile Fun Run as well. After the race, stay a while and enjoy the 10th Annual Myrtle Beach Irish Fest too beginning at 11:00 am with the family!

It’s hard to believe that July 4th will be here in just a few short days and that means that your family vacation will start too. Coming to the beach during this fun holiday has been a tradition for many families staying with us in one of our Three Bedroom vacation rentals. Let’s look below at some of the fun events that are happening on the Grand Strand.

Pawleys Island Parade

Celebrate 4th of July on the Grand Strand

If you grew up in a small-town heading to a local 4th of July Parade, then you will feel right at home in Pawleys Island. Here you can sit back and watch the parade float by on homemade floats with decorations that fit the 4th of July and even decorated golf carts. The parade will start at 10:00 am and will run through noon. Don’t miss this fun event as you celebrate the red, white, and blue!

Ball Drop

Head over to Broadway at the Beach for the first 4th of July Beach Ball Drop. This is a fun event for the whole family as they drop over 2500 beach balls from above The Avenue at 5:00 pm. And while you are there you can grab yourself a bite to eat before seeing the fireworks. Make this a new tradition for your family to come to Broadway at the Beach and see all that is new for the 4th of July!

If you are still at Broadway at the Beach, then you should stay for the annual 4th of July Firework Extravaganza. Grab a seat after your dinner to be sure you get the best seat in the house for the show. Sit back and relax as you get to see the amazing display of fireworks this year at Broadway at the Beach with your family. The firework display will begin at 10:00 pm, so be sure to get there early if you plan on coming just for the show to grab yourself a parking spot.

October is a great month to come to the Myrtle Beach area as there are so many things for you and your family to do. Flashlight Fridays

Are you looking to have a little fun on Fridays with the family? If so, then look no further as you can come to Thompson Farm every Friday night. Here you will be able to see if you can make it through the largest corn maze in the state which can be a little challenging. And when you have completed the maze, then why not join in for a fun Halloween movie each Friday night in October from 6 pm to 11 pm. Admission is $10 per person but there will be refreshments for you to enjoy like coffee, hot cider & s’mores. Don’t miss out on drinking some hot cider and eating a s’more with your family!

Barefoot Landing Pumpkin Patch

Barefoot Landing will have their very own Pumpkin Patch this year for you and your family to come gather your pumpkins for your vacation. Pumpkins are in several different sizes this year and will only accept cash this year. They will be donating $1 from each pumpkin sold to go help with the hurricane and flood relief efforts in our community. The pumpkins available are small for $3, medium for $8, large for $10, extra-large for $12 and Specialty for $15. And there will be live music every Friday & Saturday night from 6 pm to 9 pm. Don’t miss this great and fun activity with your family this year!

Candy in the Corn Trick or Treat Trail

Come to Thompson Farms every Saturday beginning on October 13th through the 27th, your kids will want to enjoy this fun. Dress the kids up in their Halloween costumes and they will have a chance to wind through a special kid-sized corn maze to find their own treats. And if you think that is all the fun, your kids will get to meet Pippa the Pumpkin Princess, Will the Witch, the Chick-Fil-A Cow and many other fun characters. This will run from 1pm – 2 pm and is included in the general admission price of $13.50 for the kids and $15.50 for the adults!

If you are vacationing during the week of Halloween, then you are coming for the fun. On Wednesday, October 31st you can go trick or treating at several locations. If you’d like to head to North Myrtle Beach, then try Barefoot Landing where you can get some treats while you shop. Beginning at 5 pm, you and your family are invited to visit shops and restaurants to go trick or treating ending at 7 pm. If you’d like to try another fun location we heard  Broadway at the Beach has some fun for you and the kids to enjoy.

With July 4th fast approaching you’ll want to know where the best are taking place as well as where the most awesome places to watch the fireworks are. For those staying oceanfront at Sandy Beach Oceanfront Resort, you’ll have the best seat in town right from your window!

Myrtle Beach knows how to have fun and hold a large assortment of of July 4th events for the holiday. Fireworks are available for purchase in South Carolina and many are setting them off up and down the coastline but be safe!

6 a.m.  4th of July Independence Day 5k and 8k, Market Common, Hackler St., Myrtle Beach, SC. Join this competitive run in Myrtle Beach to celebrate Independence Day. Race begins at 7:30 am. Registration for runners is from 6 a.m.- 7:20 a.m. at the start and finish line in Valor Park, Market Common.

2 p.m. Garden City Golf Cart Parade, Calhoun Dr. (behind Willards Fireworks), 717 15th Ave. S., Surfside Beach, SC 29575. Annual parade to celebrate Independence Day!

1 p.m. (Time is approximate) Special Event! Salute from the Shore on the 4thBe on the beach and watch the Shaw AFB F-16s from 20th Fighter Wing fly from Cherry Grove along the 60 miles of Myrtle Beach coast! See vintage WW2 aircraft! You can help support “Salute from the Shore” by doing these: Get a huge flag, Take video and pictures of your Salute! Share your videos, pictures and stories from the Salute at www.SaluteFromTheShore.org.

2 p.m. July 4th 7th Annual Cupcake Eating Contest, Croissants Bistro & Bakery, 3751 Robert Grissom Parkway Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Competition participants must be 18 years or older. The winner will be crowned, “Cupcake Champion” of Myrtle Beach. Prize packages include a trophy, medal, $500 cash and tickets to Myrtle Beach area attractions, restaurants and retail stores as well as an oceanfront vacation package, all valued close to $1500. Register online.

Boat Parade

4 p.m. Annual Boat Parade, Murrells Inlet Marshwalk, 4025 US 17, Business, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. This year’s parade will take place from 4-6 p.m. (time can change based on tides).  The parade winds from Garden City Point through the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk all the way down to Hot Fish Club. Compete for the best-decorated boat or watch from the shore and cheer on your favorites.

6 – 10 p.m. Join the town of Pawleys Island for the 51st annual Pawleys Island Golf Cart Parade. Participants use their imaginations to create “floats” from golf carts, convertibles or flat-bed trucks.Decorate your golf cart, car, boat, truck bed — anything that can be turned into a patriotic display for 4th of July. Register your float at Town Hall in Pawleys Island in advance or register the day of the parade. The cost to enter a float is $15 in advance or $20 the day of the parade.

6 – 10 p.m. Surfside Beach Celebration featuring live entertainment. Head out to the Surfside Beach Pier for music and fireworks. The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. with musical entertainment by “Garth & Friends”. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. Concessions and 4th of July T-shirts will be available for sale.

Total Eclipse of the Sun at Brookgreen Gardens

The Grand Strand area is going to be hopping with action the closer to when the total solar eclipse takes place culminating in a grand finale on August 21. This is a historical event you will want to be a part of and Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet is a great place to do that.

Brookgreen Gardens is celebrating the Great American Eclipse by having a special ticketed event on Monday, August 21, from 11 am – 4 pm. The event will feature music by Oracle Blue. Free eclipse glasses will be provided to all attendees. There will be live streaming of NASA’s coverage of the eclipse as it crosses the USA, and live streaming coverage of the aviary in the Lowcountry Zoo; this will be a day to remember for sure!

Brookgreen’s Creative Education department will be hosting special eclipse related crafts as well as information and activities for the children. The Whispering Wings Butterfly Exhibit will be included with this special admission price.
Total Eclipse of the Sun at Brookgreen Gardens

It has been reported that many animals are confused by an eclipse and change their behavior thinking twilight has arrived, followed shortly thereafter by dawn. Seeing how the eclipse affects the butterflies and birds are one of the unique advantages to viewing the eclipse at Brookgreen Gardens.

Brookgreen members may reserve up to 6 free tickets for this event and may purchase additional tickets. Even though the 6 tickets are free, members must go online to order. Non-member tickets are $20.00 for adults and $15.00 for children up to 12. Tickets may be purchased below http://www.brookgreen.org/eclipse or by calling 888-718-4253.

Food, soft drinks, beer and wine will be available for purchase. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy lunch, music and all the festivities. On eclipse day, the gardens will be closed for general admission. This event is advanced ticket purchase only.
