The Grand Strand area is going to be hopping with action the closer to when the total solar eclipse takes place culminating in a grand finale on August 21. This is a historical event you will want to be a part of and Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet is a great place to do that.
Brookgreen Gardens is celebrating the Great American Eclipse by having a special ticketed event on Monday, August 21, from 11 am – 4 pm. The event will feature music by Oracle Blue. Free eclipse glasses will be provided to all attendees. There will be live streaming of NASA’s coverage of the eclipse as it crosses the USA, and live streaming coverage of the aviary in the Lowcountry Zoo; this will be a day to remember for sure!
Brookgreen’s Creative Education department will be hosting special eclipse related crafts as well as information and activities for the children. The Whispering Wings Butterfly Exhibit will be included with this special admission price.
It has been reported that many animals are confused by an eclipse and change their behavior thinking twilight has arrived, followed shortly thereafter by dawn. Seeing how the eclipse affects the butterflies and birds are one of the unique advantages to viewing the eclipse at Brookgreen Gardens.
Brookgreen members may reserve up to 6 free tickets for this event and may purchase additional tickets. Even though the 6 tickets are free, members must go online to order. Non-member tickets are $20.00 for adults and $15.00 for children up to 12. Tickets may be purchased below http://www.brookgreen.org/eclipse or by calling 888-718-4253.
Food, soft drinks, beer and wine will be available for purchase. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy lunch, music and all the festivities. On eclipse day, the gardens will be closed for general admission. This event is advanced ticket purchase only.
Brookgreen Gardens is located off Hwy 17 South in Murrells Inlet SC. Their exact address for GPS purposes is 1931 Brookgreen Drive, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
