Uncover the Magic of Fall in Myrtle Beach

The summer season may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean your beach vacation has to come to an end. Fall is a great time to visit the Myrtle Beach area, especially if you’re looking for beautiful weather and cooler temperatures. Plus, you’ll be able to explore the area with less wait time, more open spots on the sand, or just be able to relax and listen to the waves from your balcony.

Whether you’re planning a family getaway, a trip with friends, or a relaxing vacation for two, staying at Sandy Beach Oceanfront Resort keeps you close to the beach and to many of Myrtle Beach’s favorite attractions. Let’s look below at a few things that you can enjoy during a fall vacation along the Grand Strand.

Sunny Beach Days

You can still enjoy the beach as the fall brings beautiful weather, and the sand and water are still warm enough to enjoy. Start your day with a walk along the beach, find a spot to relax and enjoy the beach, or just take in the ocean views and saltwater air. With the summer crowds beginning to thin out, fall can be a great time to enjoy a quieter day by the water.

Afterward, you can head back to Sandy Beach Oceanfront Resort to relax before getting ready for a wonderful evening out with the family.

Enjoy a Fall Festival or Event

Fall offers many events that locals and visitors alike continue to attend each year. The Atalaya Arts & Crafts Festival takes place September 25th – 27th, 2026, at Huntington Beach State Park. Those who attend can enjoy artwork, handmade crafts, food, and live entertainment around the historic Atalaya Castle.

On September 26th, NMB Live! will take over Main Street in North Myrtle Beach with live music, performances, local vendors, and so much more to see and do. This is one you won’t want to miss with the family. Later in the season, the Myrtle Beach Jazz Festival will return October 16th – 18th, 2026, with live music, food vendors, and family-friendly fun along historic Carver Street.

We always recommend checking the local events calendar before your trip, as you may find even more events while you’re here.

Get Out and Explore the Area

Fall weather can also make it more pleasant to spend time outdoors without the summer heat or humidity. Myrtle Beach State Park is a great place to spend part of your day exploring. You can take a long walk along the beach, explore the many trails, fish from the pier, or pack a picnic lunch to enjoy.

If you’re looking for something a little different, check out Brookgreen Gardens, where you can walk through the gardens and see many sculptures throughout the property. They often have different events in the fall months that you can check out too.

And of course, it’s not a beach trip without an evening out for a friendly competition of mini golf. Myrtle Beach offers plenty of courses to choose from, making it the perfect activity for families, couples, and friends.

Rainy Day Backup Plans

Even during a beach vacation, you may run into a cloudy or rainy day. Thankfully, Myrtle Beach has plenty of indoor activities to enjoy. Spend a few hours exploring Ripley’s Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach or the interactive exhibits at WonderWorks. There’s plenty to do in the area.

You can also catch a show, do a little shopping at a local mall, or enjoy a meal or two together before heading back to the resort for the rest of the day.

Plan Your Fall Getaway to Myrtle Beach

Fall is a wonderful time to experience Myrtle Beach in a new way. You can enjoy the beach, explore local attractions, attend seasonal events, and still have plenty of time to relax.

When you stay at Sandy Beach Oceanfront Resort, you’ll have an oceanfront place to return to after a day of exploring. With one-, two-, and three-bedroom accommodations available, there are plenty of options for families, couples, and groups of friends.

Start planning your fall vacation in Myrtle Beach and enjoy everything that the Grand Strand has to offer this upcoming season.
